General

With the IP7 AI Innovator questions can be asked about a patent or a list of results.
A response is provided as text and/or as Result List (patents).

The AI Innovator is not an interface to other external AI providers (Gemini, ChatGPT, etc.).
Instead, only AI systems that run on IP7 servers are used.
This means that requests to the AI Innovator do not leave the IP7 system.

Process

The source for the AI is the currently opened results list (up to 200,000 patents possible) or the opened detail view.

1, In the first step a result list or detail view must be created/selected.

2, The "Innovator" button opens it in the left window.
It will then also be displayed which result list the AI is referring to:


3, Then a question must be entered and sent.
(see section: "Use in Practice - Notes/Examples")


4, The question (input text/prompt) is optimized by an AI.
This step can also be disabled.
(see options - "Basic Similarity Search")

5, Similar hits are determined from the results list based on the optimized text. (semantic search)
(this result list can be opened - "Show documents")

6, The answer (LLM) is then created based on these hits or their description texts.
(blue patent numbers can be clicked and opened in a new detail view)


Use in practice - notes/examples

Results/answers may seem plausible at first glance, but may be incorrect or incomplete.
In general, such problems can always arise when working with AI.
Results from AI must therefore always be questioned, doubted and checked.

The following should be noted specifically for the AI Innovator:
As mentioned in the section "Process", the question is not asked to the entire result list.
This also makes it possible to query nonsense.

wrong questions

All kinds of questions that are aimed at a general evaluation or analysis should not be asked of the AI Innovator.

Examples

  • How many patents in the results list have been granted?
  • Which applicants/companies are in the results list?
  • Which key terms appear frequently in the results list?
  • Give me a summary of all the patents in the results list.
  • Which characteristics/features are mentioned in the results list?
  • Give me all patents that contain characteristics/features XYZ.

(may work if the characteristics/features are very specific and are described in detail in the question)

Why aren't these types of questions possible?
-> Because the result will not be complete. (see section "Process")

For these cases/questions, other features should be used instead, such as:

correct questions

Precise technical questions that have an appropriate level of detail in the question.

Examples

  • How to prevent fuel leaks regarding the construction of fuel tanks in the event of a helicopter crash?
  • Are there patents about a fuel tank construction design that deforms in order to absorb energy in a helicopter crash event in order to prevent fuel leaks?

The second question is (presumably) sufficiently detailed to provide a helpful answer.
If you get a negative answer to these types of questions, it definitely needs to be questioned.
e.g. if the AI answers: "no patents found"

Options

Some options can be activated/deactivated using the gear button.

Basic Similarity Search

The entered text/prompt/question is not optimized by an AI, but rather passed on directly/unprocessed to the semantic search.
(see Process: Step 4 is omitted if this option is activated)

No Answer, Show documents only (not for detail view)

Only the semantic search is carried out and the hit list with the relevant patents is generated. No AI answer is created as text (LLM).
(see Process: Step 6 is omitted if this option is activated)

Split description - question

With this option, 2 input fields are available.
One field for a technical description and one field for the question/instruction.

By separating the technical description and the specific question, the identification of relevant text passages is improved.
In addition, a claim can be provided and compared with the generated hit list.

Example

Technical description:
The invention provides a multi-stage energy absorption anti-crash fuel tank supporting structure which comprises a fuel tank containing cavity used for containing a helicopter fuel tank. The bottom energy absorption part is arranged at the bottom of the oil tank accommodating cavity; wherein the bottom energy absorption part is a multi-stage energy absorption part, and the bottom energy absorption part is used for absorbing energy of the helicopter in the crash process; according to the multi-stage energy absorption anti-crash oil tank supporting structure provided by the invention, in combination with an anti-crash design, a bottom supporting structure with more assembly relations in the oil tank supporting structure adopts a composite material integrated design, and a bottom supporting frame beam is designed into a composite material co-curing structure; and the multi-stage energy-absorbing anti-crash structure is formed by connecting with the skin thick honeycomb structure, so that the high-efficiency anti-crash function of the oil tank supporting structure is realized, and the high survival rate requirement of a modern helicopter is met.

Question:
Show me patents that are similar to the technical description and list these similarities.

Language

Here it is determined in which language the AI will respond.
"Input Language" means that the AI tries to recognize the language of the entered text/prompt/question and responds in the same language.

Source Selection

Here it is determined whether the AI should refer to the entire result list or only to the selected patents.
