Here you are able to search patents by using the respective country codes.

In the search block the "most important" countries can be selected by using the buttons.
It is also possible to enter the country codes directly into the search field. Here the country codes must be separated with a semi colon or a comma.

Example

DE; EP; US; WO;

All country codes are available in the search assistant.

In case the country code is not known, the list can be searched/filtered for the desired country.
Selected entries can be transferred to the search using the "Apply selection" button.

Priority countries

With the option "Priority countries" you can search for the priority countries (first application in the patent family).
Which priority countries are searched for depends on the set basis of the search.

Priority country of the extended or strict family.
It makes no sense if the basis here is set to document or application.
In this case you can simply deselect "Priority countries".

Designated contracting states

With the option "Designated Contracting States", the designated contracting states of EP applications are additionally searched.
Only the designated contracting states that were named when the EP patent was granted are taken into account.

Legal status

The legal status in the country search relates to the searched countries / contracting states (applications).
In comparison, the legal status search-block refers to the selected basis of the search.

Example: In this search only "dead" strict families are found -> all applications of the strict family must be dead.

In this example there must be at least one dead DE application in the strict family.
However, not all of the family's applications have to be dead:

Designated contracting states in combination with legal status

With the above options, you can search e.g. for EP patents which contain granted DE contracting states.
